02 May Cedars-Sinai Workers To Strike May 9th, 2022
Patient care at Cedars-Sinai may soon be disrupted for an indeterminate length of time. Cedars-Sinai workers are threatening to strike starting May 9th, 2022, if Cedars-Sinai fails to adequately address unfair-labor practices and patient safety concerns. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was recently issued a hospital safety grade of “D” by the independent consumer healthcare watchdog, the Leapfrog group, a downgrade from a “C” last year. And, a clinical partner at Cedars-Sinai is quoted as saying “Management doesn’t seem to take patient or worker safety seriously.”

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Workers To Strike
Hundreds of workers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles plan to strike on May 9, according to the union that represents them.
The Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West cited concerns about what it described as unfair labor practices as well as employee and patient safety concerns, short-staffing, and low wages.
Union leaders also pointed to the “D” letter grade assigned to the hospital in the Leapfrog Group’s fall 2021 Hospital Safety Grades.
